Rethymno is located in the northern coast of the island of Crete and it is the favoured and important tourist destination for thousands of visitors every year.

Rethymno retains the colour and character from the Venetian and Turkish period. Important monuments such as Lotzia, the Fortetza, the 5 survived mosques, and the romantic streets of Historic centre, Venetian doors and fountains, decorative door and window frames are characteristic Renaissance style.

The Venetian harbour is the most significant monument for the city and the Municipal Park is a monument of its natural history.
